About the club

Rugby Union is inclusive to all genders and levels of experience, either at university or college level. We welcome enquiries from those with a disability regarding the accessibility of Rugby Union.

Oxford University Rugby Football Club is built upon four core values: participation, development, excellence, and tradition. We have men's and women's teams, both of which train and play at our home ground at Iffley Road. We are fortunate to have our own facilities, allowing the teams 24 hour access to our pitch and gym, alongside hosting events in the pavilion - all situated at Iffley Road, where we have been based since the 1890s. Rugby is accessible to all students at the University through the University teams and the extensive College programme.

We have three men's teams: Men's Blues (Men's 1st XV), Greyhounds (Men's 2nd XV), and the Whippets (Men's 3rd XV). These teams compete frequently throughout the year, building towards the annual Varsity Match versus Cambridge. The Men's Blues play the annual Varsity Match at StoneX Stadium, and the Greyhounds and the Whippets alternate the location of their annual Varsity Match between Iffley Road and Grange Road (Cambridge's home ground).

The club has three women's teams: the Women's Blues (Women's 1st XV), the Panthers (Women's 2nd XV), and the Pumas (Women's 3rd XV). The Women's Blues compete in the BUCS Premiership South League and play the annual Varsity Match at StoneX Stadium in March. The Panthers also gain valuable playing experience in their respective BUCS league and the Pumas look to play a series of matches against local and south eastern sides each year in preparation for their Varsity Match, which forms a double header with the Panthers and alternates between Iffley Road and Grange Road.

Inter-college & Cuppers

There are many opportunities to get involved with rugby at college level. There are inter-college competitions in the form of a women's cup, a men's cup and league and a rugby 7's tournament. Most colleges will have their own team however teams from multiple colleges are also able to play. To get involved contact your college sports rep or the club through the email above.
